The 2022 Murph Challenge Day 6: Jaclyn Maxwell

“One day at a time, one step at a time. Do what you can, do your best. Let God handle the rest.”

Today’s dedication goes out to a fighter who has had a whirlwind of uncertainty thrown her way the last month. As a wife and mom of three, Jaclyn’s world dramatically changed after a mammogram in April. What started as a confirmed lump, resulted in a CT scan that revealed a mass in her lungs. Add an MRI, Lung and Lymph Node Biopsy, and Bone Scan which resulted in a diagnosis of Fore Gut (GI) cancer with no identifiable primary which is called a CUP (cancer of unidentifiable primary).

Her sister Sammy writes, “During her first radiation treatment this past Wednesday (6/1), her doctor informed us that the results from the Caris test came in and confirmed that Jaclyn has Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. While it was (and still is) extremely difficult news to process, we are still holding out hope and pursuing EVERY possible avenue for treatment. We have some phenomenal resources and are looking at multiple treatment centers and are exploring various clinical trials.”

Although the future remains uncertain for Jaclyn, there is zero question about her motivation to fight, “my sweet kids…who I can’t quite look at without crying. They are my biggest reason for wanting to fight without even thinking about it. I will for them. For being there for them. For anyone who can’t put one foot in front of the other. I will fight for it all.”

Friend and nominator, Erin says, “if anyone can win this battle, it’s you Jaclyn. You have the BIGGEST and most POSITIVE energy of anyone on the planet and you always fill everyone around you with love and laughter. You are surrounded with so much love and support by all of of us, your friends and family are all lifting you up in prayer every day. We’re with you every step of the way.”

We are honored to dedicate Day 6 of 32 to an incredible fighter and every day inspiration, Jaclyn Maxwell.

When I did the Murph Challenge for the first time I became hooked. Not because it was fun but because it was painful, challenging, and meaningful.

These 31 challenges are a dedication to a fighter, a warrior, a person battling that’s an everyday hero.

“The Murph Challenge is more than just a workout. It is a tradition that helps push us, humble us, and allows us the opportunity to dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor, LT. Michael P. Murphy, a man who sacrificed everything he had for our freedom.”
