The Murph Challenge Day 1: LT. Michael P. Murphy

“The Murph Challenge is more than just a workout. It is a tradition that helps push us, humble us, and allows us the opportunity to dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor, LT. Michael P. Murphy, a man who sacrificed everything he had for our freedom.”

Over this last year I could not get one thought out of my mind: what about all the people who are fighting battles and suffering alone during the pandemic because they were told to isolate and separate from community. They are being forced to fight alone.

I don’t know about you, but for me, any time I’ve overcome a challenge in life it was always because I had a team, community, or coach behind me. Most of the time it was all three. With that in mind I felt called to create a nonprofit organization (Every Day We Fight) that connected those fighting battles (physical and/or mental) to a health and wellness community. To a team of trainers, therapists, fitness communities, and coaches ready to fight back with them. Ready to empower and speak life and belief in them. A community ready to listen and walk along side them.

Starting Memorial Day and continuing every day of June (31 consecutive days) I’m going to dedicate and complete a Murph Challenge to a fighter, a warrior, a person battling that’s an everyday hero.

Sometimes, it’s necessary to sacrifice our dreams for the sake of others.

God put something on my heart. It was to help people fighting , battling, and suffering right now. He put a passion and willingness in me to be in pain for something that is bigger than myself.

Every time I do this challenge I feel pain and discomfort which lets me know I’m on the right path. If I don’t feel it, I realize I need to pick up my tempo.
Why? Because this challenge honors a man (LT. Michael P. Murphy) that ran into gunfire so his Seal Team could survive. This day is about honoring and remembering the men and women that made to ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

When we can put purpose, meaning, and perspective into what we do and how we do it our ability magnifies. We are able to push harder, run faster, go longer, help more people, and do more good than we could on our own.

This was Day 1 of 31 straight Murph Challenges to help individuals fighting battles.
