The Murph Challenge Day 17: Jillayne Lazer

Day 17 of 31 is dedicated to Jillayne Lazer. Jillayne is a strong and active mom of three kiddos (Audrey, Peyton, and Parker). I know Jillayne and her husband Jared from our St. Cloud State Athletics days.

Three years ago on this day, the Lazer Family story was forever changed. Jillayne and her family were involved in a car accident. Thankfully, the kids and Jillayne survived. Tragically, Jared did not.

I personally cannot imagine the pain she has went through. I always knew Jillayne was strong, but I’ll never forget seeing her at Jared’s visitation. I was in awe of her strength. Bandages and a walking boot, yet fully aware, present, and appreciative of every single person there for her family.

Jillayne’s friend Sara had this to add,

“Jillayne is the definition of inspiration. She took the most challenging season of her life and used it to give back to others and live a more fulfilling life herself. She has NEVER had a ‘woe is me’ moment. She has stayed strong in her faith and knew that God was in control. She gave all of her worries to Him. She learned first hand that life is so short and it can change in an instant and she won’t let any precious moments go to waste.”

There is a lot of reasons I’m honored to dedicate today to Jillayne, but the one that sticks out most is her heart to help others who are going through their own battles both before and after the accident.

Jillayne’s friend Jamie summarized it best,

“Prior to the accident she had helped so many people without hesitation and because of that she was blessed with support when she needed it most. It shows so much of what her true character was before she entered this new chapter.”

Every Day We Fight is blessed to dedicate today’s Murph Challenge to my incredible friend, Jillayne Lazer.

Day 17 Murph Time: 29:10

When I did the Murph Challenge for the first time I became hooked. Not because it was fun but because it was painful, challenging, and meaningful.

These 31 challenges are a dedication to a fighter, a warrior, a person battling that’s an everyday hero.

“The Murph Challenge is more than just a workout. It is a tradition that helps push us, humble us, and allows us the opportunity to dedicate a bit of pain and sweat to honor, LT. Michael P. Murphy, a man who sacrificed everything he had for our freedom.”
